For many, Terrell Carter will be remembered for his numerous roles in Tyler Perry’s productions,  such as, the film,  Diary of A Mad Black Woman, and stage plays,  including,  Meet The Browns, Madea’s Class Reunion, and What’s Done In The Dark. What most people aren’t aware of, however, is that Terrell Carter had a very successful career several years prior to doing any work with Tyler Perry. While Tyler Perry brought his talents to the fore front, and showcased him as a vocalist and actor, he had been working behind the scenes for several years, writing with Quincy Jones for Tevin Campbell, Tamia, and vocal arranging for P. Diddy, singing with gospel artist such as  Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, and Yolanda Adams.  He has shared the stage with people such as Patti LaBelle, Christina Aguilair, and India Arie. One of his favorite singers, and good friends is Karen Clark Sheard, and she is one of his biggest influences.  He has been blessed with countless opportunities to work with the best of the best.  These different experiences have molded him into the  artist that he is today.

Terrell has independently produced four albums of his own, the latest being “Finally”, which came out summer 2010.  In between stage plays, he is working on a fifth album that is going to be very different from anything he has ever done before. He’s also in a short film starring Fantasia, and directed by Nicci Gilbert, which is currently in post production. He is staying busy, and continuing to use his gifts to be a blessing.

Most recently, Terrell was seen in Chicago’s own, John Ruffin’s stage play, Love Me Or Leave Me, featured on GMC, where he starred alongside tv veterans such as Richard Gallion, Christian Keyes, Terri Vaughn, Elise Neal, Karl Payne, Clifton Powell, and Shirly Murdock.  From January 21-22, he can be seen in Ruffin’s newest stage production, the Ideal Husband, at the Harold Washington Cultural Center, where he will be starring alongside Richard Gallion, Karl Payne, and Shirly Murdock. Make sure you add him on facebook, follow him on twitter @terrellmusic, and check out his website.
